Waltham Mr. Joseph L. Attardo, of Waltham, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 82. He was the husband of Josephine T. (Manero) Attardo. Born in Waltham on November 1, 1924, a son of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Terrasi), Joe was a lifelong Waltham resident. He graduated from Saint Charles High School in Waltham in 1943 and after that served for the duration of World War II with the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific. He participated in the invasions at Bougainville, Guam and at Iwo Jima. Until his retirement, Joe worked as a carpenter for forty-two years for the Raytheon Company in Waltham. He was also a long-time usher at Sacred Heart Church in Waltham and in his spare time enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Maria F. DeMarco and her husband, David, of Pepperell, Anthony J. Attardo and his wife, Anne, of Hudson, New Hampshire, Joseph L. Attardo, Jr. of Waltham, Michael A. Attardo and his wife, Maria, of South Brunswick, New Jersey, Nina M. Forster and her husband, Mark, of Marlboro, Nancy A. Cormier and her husband, Richard, of Wayland and John F. Attardo and his wife, Barbara, of Manchester, New Hampshire; his grandchildren, Stephanie and Jennifer DeMarco, Catherine Stanley, Brian, Jessica, Kaitlin and Michelle Attardo, Mark and Stephen Forster and Ariel, Rosalita and Blase Cormier; his brothers and sisters, Rose Olivo of Waltham, Anthony Attardo of Scarborough, Maine, Louis Attardo of Wayland and Madeline Randolph of Waltham and many nieces and nephews. Joe was also the father of the late Stephanie Attardo and a brother of the late Frank Attardo. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
