Joseph Breton, 88, of Waltham, MA, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in 1935 in Boston to the late Emil and Alice (Ferland) Breton, originally from Quebec. 

Joe is survived by the love of his life and wife of 59 years, Joan (Mehegan) Breton, his children Michael Breton of Waltham, Robert and his wife Linda of Groton, Cynthia Baker and her husband Jeff of Groton, his sister Loretta Odom and brother Daniel Breton and his wife Cindy. “Pa” also leaves his adoring grandchildren, Vincent Lehman and his wife Christiana, Lisa, Patrick, Jared and Derek Breton, Ryan, Aidan, Allison, and Meghan Baker. Along with two great grandchildren, Gracin and Finley Lehman.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his brother, Renauld “Reno”, and sister, Jeannette.

Joe was raised in Somerville and went to grammar school at North Dame de Piety and graduated from St. John’s high school in North Cambridge. Joe proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Boston College in 1964.

A long-time active member of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, served as an offertory collector, usher, and taught CCD. Joe was a member of the Waltham American Legion Post 156, member of Retired Men’s club of Arlington, and VFW. He worked as an Accountant at Western Electric of Watertown and retired from Honeywell & Bull Computer Division after 34 years.

His family was his biggest source of pride and joy. He enjoyedmany years boating on the “CindyJo” with his family, golf with friends, and traveling with his wife. 

Visiting hours will be held at the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St., Waltham on Thursday, October 10, from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral mass at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted church, Friday October 11, at 11:00 followed by internment at Mount Feake Cemetery.
