Mr. Joseph A. Calvino, of Gallatin, Tennessee, formerly of New York City and Stamford, Connecticut, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at University Medical Center in Lebanon, Tennessee. He was 73. Mr. Calvino was a graduate of the New York High School of Aviation Trades and served with the U.S. Merchant Marine and with the U.S. Army. He worked as an Operations Engineer at Fort Green Market in Brooklyn, New York and later as the Operational Plant Manager of U.S. Tobacco in Greenwich, Connecticut and at the Stamford Executive Center. He had been a member of the Operations Engineers Union in NYC and had been a longtime Friend of Bill W. He was also a dog lover and an avid reader. He was the beloved son of Mabel (DeCampo) Holley of Stamford and was predeceased by his first wife, Elvira (Mino) Calvino, his father, Jose Calvino and his step-father, Thomas W. Holley. Mr. Calvino was the loving father of Joseph A. Calvino, Jr. and his wife, Silvia, of Pahoa, Hawaii and Linda Calvino Nocera and her husband, Jim, of Weston, Massachusetts and he was the beloved step-father of Harold Lee Carruthers of Gallatin and dear step-brother of Elizabeth Armstrong of Gulfport, Florida. He was deeply loved by his former wife, Elizabeth C. Calvino. He was also the proud grandfather of Brian and Devon Rae Nocera of Weston and Nicole and Malia Calvino of Pahoa. He was very close to his uncle, Joseph ‘George’ DeCampo of Flushing, New York and all his aunts and uncles. Joseph leaves behind a legacy of love in his extended family and among his many friends, all of whom will miss his kindness and his hearty laughter. A Funeral Mass was offered by the Most Rev. David R. Choby, Bishop of Nashville, in Saint John Vianney Church in Gallatin. Burial services were private.
