Waltham - Mr. Joseph D. Gatti, of Waltham, died on Thursday, June 20, 2013 in Saint Patrick Manor in Framingham. He was 78.

Joseph was born on June 22, 1934 in Waltham a son of the late Daniel and Theresa (Calabufalo) Gatti. On August 28, 1955 he married Eleanor A. Doyle and they lived in Watertown before moving to Waltham in 1982.

Mr. Gatti worked in maintenance, primarily as a painter, at Garden Crest Apartments in Waltham for over 25 years, retiring in 2004. Previously, he worked as a printer from Potter Press Company.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Eleanor, he leaves his children, Joseph D. Gatti and his wife, Debra, of Londonderry, New Hampshire and Linda M. Hamilton and her husband, Michael, of Wrentham; his grandchildren, Stephen, Christopher, Matthew Hamilton and Sarah Gatti; his great-grandchildren Ilycia and Jacob Gatti; his siblings, Lawrence Gatti and his wife Lynn, of Waltham, Daniel Gatti and his wife, Jean, of Hyannis, Louis Gatti and his wife, Phyllis of Waltham and Lorraine Almeida of Maine; many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Joseph's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, June 23rd from 3 to 6 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
