Joseph Harris

Waltham - Mr. Joseph Harris, of Waltham, died Thursday, September 11, 2014 in his home at Waltham Crossings. He was 102.

Joe was born in Cambuslang, Scotland, on March 20, 1912, a son of the late James and Elizabeth (Rooney) Harris. He was a Waltham resident for over forty years.

Until his retirement he worked as a fork lift driver for the American Can Company for twenty-one years. An avid golfer, Joe was a member of the Leo J. Martin Golf Club.

He married the former Catherine Gallagher in 1942 and they shared many happy years together until Catherine's death in 2004.

Joe was the brother of the late James, Peter, Francis, Arthur, Elizabeth, Theresa, and John Harris, Sarah Dunsmuir, Agnes Shine, Catherine Hart, and Mary McGreevy and leaves many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Joe's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, September 16th from 5 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
