Joseph R. Legere

Waltham – Mr. Joseph R. Legere, of Waltham, died Monday, March 9, 2009 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 80.

Born in Waltham, a son of the late Amedee and Yvonne (Legere) Legere, Joe worked for over forty years as the credit manager for the Biltrite Corporation in Waltham. During World War II he served with the United States Army. Joe was a member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham and in his spare time he enjoyed reading, traveling, sports and going out for dinner.

Joe leaves his children, Paul J. Legere and his wife, Jenna, of Wilmington and Gisele Fernandez and her husband, David, of Seattle, Washington; his sister, Annette M. Fox of Waltham; his grandchildren, Jordan Legere, Kaitlyn Legere, and Krystal Fortin and many nieces and nephews.

He was the husband of the late Marie (Fournier) Legere and brother of the late Oscar Legere.

Family and friends will honor and remember Joe's life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
