Waltham – Master Sergeant Joseph F. Loscocco, USAF, of Waldorf, Maryland, formerly of Camp Springs, Maryland died Friday, April 26, 2019 at Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham following a period of declining health. He was 73.
Joe was born in Boston on November 17, 1945, a son of the late Savino J. and Agnes F. (Burckhart) Loscocco. He grew up in the Boston area and after high school began a twenty-five year career with the United States Air Force.
His service began in Vietnam and after that he became a security specialist whose main duty stations were Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota; Berlin, Germany and Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
After he retired from the service he continued his career at ManTech International, a global security firm in Virginia.
He was a longtime parishioner at Saint Philip the Apostle Church in Camp Springs and had been a member and Past Master of Camp Springs Masonic Lodge No. 227. Joe's other interests were in music, woodworking, square dancing and community activities.
He leaves his daughter, Nicole VanZandt (Billy) of Crofton, Maryland; his siblings, Paul Loscocco of Waltham, Charles Loscocco of La Plata, Maryland, William Loscocco (Ursula) of Amherst, New Hampshire, Miriam Dorovski of Waltham, Cecelia Loscocco of White Plains, New York, Frances Loscocco of Worcester and his nieces and nephew, Karin DiBari, Sarah Leonardi, Rebeccah Kocak and Charles Loscocco.
He was also the brother of the late Mark Loscocco.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joe's life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 6th in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial at a later date will be in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
