Waltham - Mr. Joseph Luvisi, of Waltham, died Friday, November 30, 2007 in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 83. Joseph was born December 25, 1923 in Diecimo, Provincia de Lucca, Italy a son of the late James and Fridola (Bertini) Luvisi. He moved here as a young child but also returned to Italy at various times in his life. He worked for many years as a design Engineer for Marine Systems Company in Boston. Previously, he worked at the U.S. Naval Shipyard in Charlestown as a design engineer. Mr. Luvisi was a parishioner at Saint Lukes Church in Belmont. He was a graduate of Northeastern University and was a World War II Veteran serving with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Luvisi leaves his wife of forty-six years, Catherine V. (Burgess) Luvisi; six daughters, Mary T. Luvisi and her husband William Sterritt of Los Angeles, California, Kathleen A. Luvisi, Sara J. Luvisi, and Margaret E. Luvisi, all of Waltham, Roseanne P. Luvisi and her partner, Lauren Downing, of Weymouth, and Susan E. Luvisi of Dorchester; one sister, Theresa Bottoni of Arlington; two grandchildren, Anthony M. Luvisi and Reilly Sterritt; many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20) Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Lukes Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Josephs Cemetery, West Roxbury.
