Waltham – Mr. Joseph Alonzo "Al" Maillet, of Waltham, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in Newton Wellesley Hospital. He was 75.
Al was born in New Brunswick on November 14, 1937, a son of the late Telex and Alice (Roy) Maillet. While in Waltham he met Annette Hasselman and the pair married in New Brunswick on August 7, 1965 and spent forty-eight happy years together. Al was a carpenter by trade, belonged to the union and worked hard to provide for his family. His pride and joy were his granddaughters Shannon and Jessica. Time spent with his entire family, including Toby the dog, was cherished.
Besides his wife, Annette (Hasselman) Maillet, he is survived by his children, David Maillet and his wife, Karen, of Billerica and Linda Maillet of Waltham; his granddaughters, Shannon Maillet Callahan and Jessica Maillet; his siblings, Florence Cormier and Helen McGuiney of Ontario, Mary Melanson and Annette Maillet of New Brunswick and Bernice Savoie of Waltham and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Yvon Maillet.
Family and friends will honor and remember Al's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday October 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. when his funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
