Boston – Mr. Joseph P. Muxie, of Boston, died Friday, November 11, 2022 at his home. He was 62.
Joe was born in Chelsea on December 18, 1959, son of the late John and Mary (Gandolfo) Muxie. He was raised in Watertown and was a graduate of Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston. After that he served for five years with the United States Air Force.
Following his discharge Joe became a video engineer for a number of years for various film and video post-production companies in Los Angeles and in Boston. After that he began a second career working for the Veterans Administration at their Bedford and Jamaica Plain hospitals.
He and his husband, John, enjoyed traveling the world near and far exploring different regions and cultures, as well as being avid sports fans. Joe always kept his large extended family close to his heart.
He leaves his husband, John J. Donovan; his sisters and brothers, Theresa Muxie of Winthrop, John Muxie & his wife Kathleen of Hampton, New Hampshire, Rosemary Perrin & her late husband Walter of Mobile, Alabama, Eva Donegan & her husband Kevin of Wareham, Patricia Muxie of Melrose, Thomas Muxie of Peabody and Ann Frassica & her husband John of Waltham and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joe’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, November 16th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne on Friday, November 18th at 1:15 p.m.
