Watertown - Mr. Joseph E. Reilly, of Watertown, died Sunday, May 18, 2009 in Stoneham Life Care Center. He was 79. Joe was born in Watertown on August 21, 1929, a son of the late Thomas M. and Mary (Mullahy) Reilly and was a lifelong resident of Watertown. He was a graduate of Saint Patrick's High School in Watertown. He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Watertown for over 32 years before retiring. He was a member of Saint Patrick's Church and an active volunteer at its bingo and he was a member and past Grand Knight of the Watertown Council No. 155, Knights of Columbus. Joe leaves his sisters, Mary V. Veno of Waltham and Eleanor P. Desmond of Newton; many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grand nieces and great-grandnephews and a host of close friends. He was also a brother of the late John J. Reilly, Catherine F. Grady, Thomas M. Reilly and Theresa A. Melket. Family and friends will honor and remember Joe's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
