Mr. Joseph Venuto, of Dedham, died Thursday, March 14, 2024 at his home. He was 74.
Born in Sicily on June 14, 1949 to the late Antonio and Giovanna Venuto, he immigrated with his family to the United States in 1963. Ten years later he married the love of his life, Waltham native Joan E. Vanaria, at Sacred Heart Church in Waltham. The couple soon made Dedham their lifelong home where they would raise their family.
Joe worked for years as a talented auto mechanic and owned his own shop, Joe’s Auto Sales & Service, in Dedham that specialized in the repair of Volkswagen automobiles.
He was also a professional magician and entertained countless family, friends and strangers for decades with extraordinary skill at his craft. His professional name was the ‘Amazing JV’. He especially enjoyed the look of wonder on the faces of youngsters at his tricks, especially his grandchildren who he adored.
He was a past president of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
In addition to his wife of more than fifty years, Joan, he leaves his childen, John C. Venuto (Erica) of Easton, Eric J. Venuto (Kristen) of Dedham and Joseph A. Venuto (Leah) of Norwood; his grandchildren, Ryan, Charlotte, Tyler, Emma, Benjamin and Ayla Venuto; his sisters and brother, Pauline Maione (Sam) of Westwood, Rosa Tedeschi (Louie) of Dedham and Anthony Venuto (Christine) of Norwood and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Joe was also the father of the late Jeffrery J. Venuto.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joe’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, March 20th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
