Newton – Mrs. Josephine M. (Paladino) Nicolazzo, of Newton, died on Friday January 17th, 2014 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 98.
Josephine was born in Waltham on May 8, 1915, a daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina Paladino. In her earlier years she had worked as a dressmaker at Howell Button Factory in Waltham, Movers Dress Co. in Boston and the Boston Maid Dress Co. in Waltham.
She had lived in Waban, Hyannis, West Palm Beach, Florida and Newton where she spent most of her life. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Palm Beach and was a trustee of the Condo Trust Association of Newton Centre. In her spare time she loved sewing, cooking, bowling and golfing. She was devoted to her family and was a wonderful homemaker.
She was the beloved wife of sixty-seven years to the late Antonio Nicolazzo and is survived by her children, Mary Nicolazzo of Newton Centre, Antonio M. Nicolazzo and his wife, Anita, of Bolton, Connecticut, Richard Nicolazzo and his wife, Kate, of Rollinsford, New Hampshire and Shirley Ann Faucher and her husband, Jim, of Woodstock, Connecticut; her sister, Gilda Colombo of Weston; her grandchildren, Adam Nicolazzo of Brooklyn, New York, Zachary Nicolazzo of Oxford, Ohio and Michael Nicolazzo of Tampa, Florida and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Salvatore Paladino, Mario Paladino, Nellie Tambascia, Mary Vincuillo and Frances Evangelista.
Family and friends will honor and remember Josephine's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, January 22nd, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Bernard's Church, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery.
