Waltham – Mrs. Josephine A. (Tirone) Scarborough, of Waltham, died on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, 2009 after receiving very gentle care for many months at the Golden Living Center in West Newton. She was 79. Josephine was born at home in Waltham on August 27, 1930, a daughter of the late Calogero and Margaret (Passerello) Tirone, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Waltham and until her retirement had worked as an etcher for the Unitrode Corporation in Watertown. She was also a poet and several of her poems and letters were printed in the Waltham Daily News Tribune over the years. She was the loving wife of the late Robert J. Scarborough who died in 1981 and leaves her children, Robert C. Scarborough and his wife, Deborah, of Nevada, Maryann M. Conrad and her husband, Mark T., of Watertown and Carl T. Scarborough of Waltham; her sister and brother, Mary L. Vick of Alabama and Charles L. Tirone of Littleton; her grandchildren, Jennifer and Robert Scarborough of New Hampshire, Mark J. and Paul E. Conrad of Watertown and Trina M. (Scarborough) Foley of Hanson and 11 great-grandchildren. Josephine was also the aunt of Paola A., Deborah K., Charles L., Jr. and John J. Tirone. Family and friends will honor and remember Josephine's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
