Mrs. Julia M. (Regan) Neal, of Waltham, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in Apple Valley Center in Ayer after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 80.
Julia was born on July 10, 1938 in Waltham a daughter of the late Thomas and Julia (Whalen) Regan. Raised and educated in Waltham she was a graduate of the former Saint Charles High School. She worked in accounting at Jordan Marsh Co. in Newton for over 20 years and later in life did private day care and was known and loved by many as 'Nana Julie'.
A talented seamstress she could create virtually anything from simple sewing to elaborate and beautiful wedding dresses. Julia was a longtime and faithful parishioner of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish. She had a love for gardening, nature and all things outdoors. She had many pets that graced her home throughout her lifetime, especially her much loved late cat, 'Pepper'
She leaves her children Frederick S. Neal of Waltham, Sean T. Neal (Jean) of Wareham, Julie M. Marshall (Richard) of Pepperell and Eileen P. Dicks (David) of Hyde Park; her grandchildren, Richard M. Marshall and Amanda J. Marshall (Dan Renzi) and nieces and nephews; former wife of Paul D. Neal of Everett.
She was the sister of the late Ursula MacKenzie (late Colin) .
Family and friends will honor and remember Julia's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, November 9th from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Chapel, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
