Acton – Mrs. June L. (Kraft) Krug of Acton, formerly of Middletown and Rocky Hill, Connecticut, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at Meadow Green Nursing Center in Waltham with her beloved daughters by her side. She was 82 years old.
June was born on June 18, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest of two daughters of the late Andrew and Marian (Plute) Kraft. Raised in Detroit, Michigan, she graduated in 1948 from Southeastern High School, where she was a member of the Tri Gamma Sorority. June met her husband, the late Donald Dean Krug, while working as a statistical clerk at the Square D Company headquarters in Detroit. They married on August 27, 1960, and celebrated 50 years together in 2010. They moved to the Chicago area with their careers, then followed Don's career to Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, where they lived for nearly 30 years. Don died on May 29, 2010.
June was a homemaker, Sunday school teacher and youth mentor who loved children and enjoyed helping in her church and her children's schools. She was a safe boating instruction volunteer with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, and enjoyed reading, drawing and baking. When her girls were older, she returned to work part-time, holding administrative positions at Equifax, Lawrence W. Baldyga & Co. Certified Public Accountants, and DiCara Law. She was a member of Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wethersfield, Connecticut, where she served on the altar guild and in the church's outreach ministry at the Hands On Hartford Center for Youth at the María C. Colon Sánchez Elementary School in Hartford.
June is survived by her daughters, Janet L. Krug DeVinney and her husband, Geoffrey, of Bel Air, Maryland and Rebecca J. MacNeill and her husband, John, of Acton; her grandchildren, Caitlin and William DeVinney and Elsa and Alex MacNeill; her sister, Dolores Roediger and her husband, Harry, of Citrus Heights, California, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember June's life by gathering to visit beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, at Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 371 Wolcott Hill Road, Wethersfield, Connecticut, followed by a service in celebration of her life at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. A luncheon reception will immediately follow at Saint Paul's Church.
