Waltham - Mr. Kai Tang died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 22, 2018 in Massachusetts General Hospital after being stricken ill at home. He was 87.
He was born on April 10, 1931 a son of the late On Chueong Tang and Sy Chau. He immigrated to the United States in 1975 settling in Minnesota where he worked in maintenance for IBM Corp. He moved to Waltham in 1993.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Si Wang; his children, James Tang (Kin Sau) of Waltham, Vanessa Lehn (Jason) of Waltham and Shi Chiau Phonsy of Toronto, Canada; his grandchildren Harry Tang, Eric Tang, Anthony Tang, Jane Phongsy, Annie Phongsy, William Lenh and Kenny Lenh; his great-grandchildren Mason Tang, Jaxon Tang, Dylan Phoxay, Colin Phoxay; his siblings, Sang Cong Tang and Phong Cam Tang.
Kai enjoyed meeting in Chinatown and playing Mahjong with his friends and spending time with family.
Family and friends will honor and remember Kai's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, November 30th from 4 to 8 p.m. His Funeral ceremonies will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, December 1st in the funeral home followed by a procession to Newton Crematory, 791 Walnut Street, Newton at 10 a.m.
