Waltham – Karen M. (Shanley) Alosso, of Waltham, formerly of Somerville, died at home on Monday, April 24, 2017. She was 54.
It was a warm and sunny day in Boston on July 29, 1962 when Tom and Betty Shanley welcomed their new baby Karen into the world. Karen spent her early years in Watertown, but grew up in Waltham. She was a 1980 graduate of Waltham High.
She lived in Somerville for more than twenty years where she would become a loving mother, and also got started on her career in IT consulting. Through hard work, skill and dedication, Karen rose through the ranks and became a senior accounting executive.
Following her years in Somerville Karen returned to once again make Waltham her home in 2000.
She leaves her children Jennifer A. Alosso and Daniel J. Alosso, both of Somerville; her mother Margaret E. "Betty" (Hann) Shanley of Waltham; her siblings, Thomas J. Shanley, III of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Nancy E. Brown, Michael J. Shanley and Robert E. Shanley, all of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Karen's father, Thomas J. Shanley Jr., died October 5, 2014.
Family and friends will honor and remember Karen's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday May 3rd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning when her funeral service will be held. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
