Katherine T. Donoghue

Waltham – Mrs. Katherine T. (Donovan) (Ditmar) Donoghue, of Waltham, died Sunday, October 29, 2017 in her home. She was 89.

Known affectionately by family and friends as 'Terry' she was born in Boston on June 25, 1928, a daughter of the late Michael and Hannah (Hanley) Donovan. She was raised in Brookline and was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Brookline.

After that Terry attended Burdett College of Business and Shorthand in Boston and when she wasn't busy raising her children she worked locally as a secretary. Widowed at a young age she met and later married Thomas L. Donoghue, also widowed, in Saint Jude Church in Waltham on August 10, 1968. Terry and Tom were lifelong and active parishioners.

Terry had been a member of Saint Jude Ladies Sodality and she and Tom belonged to Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord where they enjoyed rounds of golf and the company of many friends made there.

In addition to her husband of forty-nine years, Tom, she leaves her children, Paul M. Ditmar and his wife, Donna, of Palm Bay, Florida and Regina M. Donoghue of Waltham; her grandson, Ryan Ditmar and his wife, Blaire, and many nieces and nephews.

Terry was also the wife of the late Glendon "Bill" Ditmar and a sister of the late William Donovan, Mary Bernadette Oates, and Margaret Corcoran.

Family and friends will honor and remember Terry's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, November 1st from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
