Waltham – Ms. Katherine B. Plimpton, of Waltham, and Little Compton, Rhode Island, died on Tuesday November 5th, 2013 in her home. She was 55.
Kathy was born in Troy, New York on April 11, 1958, the daughter of Lease A. Plimpton and the late Robert J. Plimpton. She grew up in Groton, Massachusetts and during her high school years split time between Groton and Switzerland. A talented artist her whole life, she attended Bennington College in Vermont and UMass Amherst.
Besides her mother, Lease A. Plimpton of Little Compton, Rhode Island, she is survived by her sister, Karen Plimpton of Tualatin, Oregon; her uncles and aunts, John Anderson and his wife, Nan, of Denton, Texas and Glenn Plimpton and his wife, Judy, of Orleans; her grandmother Vera Lickel Plimpton Savage of Orleans.
She was the daughter of the late Robert J. Plimpton, sister of the late Kristian Plimpton, step-daughter of the late Philip Waldron and granddaughter of the late Mary Carpenter Anderson Greenway, James V. Anderson and Horace J. Plimpton.
The family would like to thank Joan Pic, Janet Hodges, Erin Cole and Dr. Miriam Goodman of the Edinburg Center, Diane Muller, Beverly Cormier and Karen Kilroy of hospice and Freda MacDonald; their compassion and intelligent support for Kathy is deeply appreciated by her family.
Family and friends may honor and remember Kathy's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, November 7th, from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
