Kathleen M. (Murphy) Campbell, of Waltham, formerly of Belmont, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at her home. She was 70.
Born on October 29, 1953, Kathy was the daughter of the late Richard and Virginia (Conley) Murphy. Raised and educated in Belmont, she graduated from Belmont High School and later obtained her teaching degree from Boston State College. Kathy dedicated herself to nurturing young minds as a fourth-grade teacher in Cambridge before transitioning to full-time motherhood. Once her children reached a certain age, she returned to the classroom, teaching early education until her well-deserved retirement.
In 1991, Kathy married Kenneth R. "Chip" Campbell, the love of her life. Together they raised their children in Belmont before settling in Waltham in 2010. Known for her caring nature, outgoing personality, and ability to connect with anyone, Kathy touched the lives of many with her compassionate spirit. She epitomized the role of a devoted mother and was fondly regarded as a "neighborhood Mom" for always looking out for others. She also selflessly cared for her parents in their later years.
Kathy cherished family moments spent on Cape Cod, creating countless happy memories on Seagull Beach in Yarmouth with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed simple pleasures like dining at Belle Isle Seafood in Winthrop and visiting local favorites such as The Chateau, Grassfield’s and Fiorella's Cucina. She was also an animal lover at heart, and found joy in relaxing with a game of Solitaire.
Kathy leaves her husband Kenneth R. “Chip” Campbell, Jr., along with her children Shane Buker (Cheyanne) of Acton, Casey Mosca (Danny) of Marlborough, Tommy Buker (Jackie) of Mansfield, and Greg Campbell (Alanna) of West Newbury; her grandchildren, Vivian, Danny Jr., Ellie and Emilia; her sisters Eileen Riselli (Michael) of Virginia and Jeanne Kennedy of South Carolina. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
