Lexington - Mrs. Kathleen M. (Connelly) King, of Lexington, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in Woodbriar of Wilmington. She was 87.
Kathleen was born in Newton on February 3, 1925, a daughter of the late John J. and Elizabeth (Herlihy) Connelly, and was a Newton resident for many years before moving to Lexington over 30 years ago. Prior to her marriage to Paul C. King in Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Newton she worked at Security Mills in Newton and later stayed at home to raise her three children.
She was a member of St. Brigid's Church and its Women's Club. Talented with needle and thread she enjoyed knitting and crotchet as well as china painting.
In addition to her husband, Paul, she was predeceased by her son, Paul C. King, Jr. and her siblings, Lawrence Connelly and Elizabeth Knapp.
Kathleen leaves her children, Kathleen M. Rizzo and her husband, Thomas, of Burlington and John J. King and his wife, Janet, of Lexington; her brother, John Connelly and his wife, Marylou, of Needham; her grandchildren, Jennifer Mastrofillippo, Heather Farmer, Melissa Rizzo, Deidre King and John King Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Shea and Ryan Farmer and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Kathleen's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, June 28th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Brigid's Church, 2001 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery.
