West Hyannisport – Mrs. Kathleen M. (McCarthy) McManus of West Hyannisport, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in the Cape Regency Nursing Home in Centerville. She was 93. Mrs. McManus was born in Dorchester on August 13, 1919, a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Rich) McCarthy.
Kathleen was raised and educated in Dorchester and had been a Waltham resident since 1960. Until her marriage in 1947, she had worked as an administrative assistant for the Eastern Gas and Oil Company.
Kathleen was the wife of the late John P. McManus who died in 1991.
She is survived by her brother, John P. McCarthy of Naples, Florida; her nephews, John McCarthy and James McCarthy both of Milton and Richard McCarthy of Hyannis, Brian McManus of Barrington, IL, and Robert McManus of Camus, WA, her nieces, Kathleen O'Leary of Naples, FL, Elizabeth McManus Quiles of Chicago, IL, Marilyn McManus of Evanston, IL, and Gail McManus Lindsay of Clarendon, IL, and many grand nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Kathleen's life by gathering in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham, on Friday, September 28th, at 8:30 am before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow in Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline.
