Waltham – Mrs. Kathleen F. (Burke) Wilson, of Waltham, passed away at home surrounded by family on Friday, January 7, 2022. She was 90.
Kathleen was born in Boston on April 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Mary Kate (Dolan) and Thaddeus Burke. She was raised in Waltham and graduated from Saint Charles Borromeo High School in 1948. Until her retirement, Kathleen worked for many years as the Executive Assistant to the Head of Medical Education at Waltham Hospital.
Kathleen met the love of her life, the late Victor F. Wilson, while the pair were working at Raytheon. In 1951, they married in Saint Charles Borromeo Church. They enjoyed sixty-nine years of marriage until Victor's passing in 2020.
Kathleen's passion was her family. Her children and grandchildren will always remember how loved she made them feel, particularly on special occasions like holidays and their birthdays. A talented baker, Kathleen would bake each child their own custom cake as only she could. Her children and grandchildren will fondly remember her whenever they bake.
The family spent many happy summers vacationing in West Dennis and Booth Bay Harbor, Maine. They also made memorable trips to Ireland, Washington, D.C., Walt Disney World, and the Expo 67 World's Fair in Montreal.
Kathleen enjoyed refinishing old furniture with her husband Vic, who was a talented woodworker. She was an avid reader and enthusiastic conversationalist. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving when the family would gather and enjoy good food, company, and conversation.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Stephen V. Wilson (Margaret) of Shirley, David A. Wilson (Nancy Rea) of Concord, Janice W. Allegretto (Richard) of Westford, and Kathleen W. Clarke of Yarmouth Port; her grandchildren, Abigail, Matthew, Victoria, Elizabeth, Nicholas, and Jillian, and her great-grandson, Thaddeus, her siblings Veronica Boyd and John Burke, both of Waltham. She is also survived by many Nieces, nephews, and their families.
Kathleen was the sister of late Myra McManus and Joan Burke.
Family and friends will honor and remember Kathleen's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, January 12th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
