Waltham – Mr. Kenneth I. Butler, of Waltham, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He was 81.
Ken was born in Boston on August 22, 1937, a son of the late Chandler and Hope (Bernard) Butler. He was raised in Newtonville where he lived before moving to Waltham twenty-eight years ago.
He was a graduate of Newton High and Boston University. While a student at BU he took a part-time job at the Newton YMCA and later spent his career working at the Y, most recently as youth director in Malden.
He loved all Boston sports but grew up a Boston Braves fan, turning to the Red Sox only when the Braves moved to Milwaukee in 1953. He was a follower of the Olympics and attended six Summer Olympics around the globe over the past several decades.
He leaves his best friend and brother, Alan B. Butler of Waltham, his cherished brother and sister cats, Wensleydale and Tilsit, and many cousins and their families with whom he shared many happy memories of their growing up years.
