Waltham – Mr. Kenneth D. Freda died Friday, June 10, 2022 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital after an illness. He was 78.
Kenneth was born on August 8, 1943 in Chelsea, son of the late Charles and Ethel (Stride) Freda. He was a graduate with the class of 1961 from East Boston High School. Ken served with the Army National Guard Reserves. He married Waltham native Linda A. LeBlanc on August 26, 1967 in St. Mary's Church.
He worked for many years at Waltham City Hall and later in sales for A.J. Antico Irrigation Sales for many years.
Ken was the longtime videographer with Joseph Hill Post #156 and dressed as 'Frosty the Snowman' annually with 'The Golden Capers' annual show in Waltham. In earlier years he was active with Waltham youth sports and enjoyed following the New England sports teams.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, Linda, he leaves his children, Candace M. Freda-Medbery and Kenneth D. Freda Jr., all of Waltham; grandfather of Autumn Renee and Amber Rose Medbery; brother of Charles 'Sonny' Freda of New Hampshire; also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ken's life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, June 16th at 10 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Memorials in his name may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
