Winter Garden, Florida – Mr. Lawrence J. 'Larry' Abreu, of Winter Garden, formerly of Waltham and Billerica, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida. He was 43. Born in Somerville on March 9, 1966, a son of Margaret E. (Milligan) Abreu of Billerica and the late Richard E. Abreu, Larry had worked for the past two years as a manager for D.E.I. Services in their shipping and receiving department. He was a 1984 graduate of Austin Prep High School in Reading and received an associate degree at Middlesex Community College. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He also served in the United States Army National Guard. In addition to his mother, he leaves his wife Doreen M. (Welch) (Murphy) Abreu; his children, Jacqueline M. Murphy of Lawrence, Nicole A. Murphy-Livorsi and her husband, David, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Michael W. Murphy of Winter Garden, Florida, who just completed infantry training with the United States Army National Guard, an achievment that made his father exceptionally proud. Lawrence also leaves his brother, Richard A. Abreu of Lowell; his sister, Mary K. Whalen and her husband, David, of Billerica; his mother-in-law, Shirley A. Welch of Winter Garden, Florida and many nieces and nephews including his godchild, Kerry Ray of Tewksbury. Family and friends will honor and remember Lawrence's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and again on Monday morning in Saint Andrew's Church, 45 Talbot Avenue, Billerica where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica Memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, attn: Donor Services, P.O. Box, 650301, Dallas Texas, 75265-0309.
