Lawrence A. Carey

Waltham – Mr. Lawrence A. Carey, of Waltham, died peacefully in his home on Tuesday June 24, 2014. He was 86.

Larry was born in Dorchester on July 13, 1927. After graduating from Newton High School he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during World War II. On July 24, 1965 he married Ann S. Porter in East Wareham Methodist Church. The pair settled in the Lakeview neighborhood of Waltham where Larry enjoyed spending time outside keeping his yard meticulous.

Larry was a silk screen printer for twenty-seven years until his retirement.

One of Larry's passions in life was hockey, he loved all aspects of the sport and growing up he was a talented goalie. He loved to teach the game and had coached for over forty years with Waltham Youth Hockey.

He is survived by his wife, Ann S. Porter Carey and his son David L. Carey, both of Waltham.

Family and friends will honor and remember Larry's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Route 20), Waltham on Sunday, June 29th, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Monday morning when his Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.
