Leona M. (Belliveau) Alessandro

Buzzards Bay – Mrs. Leona M. (Belliveau) Alessandro, of Buzzards Bay, died Friday, August 24, 2018 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 95.

Leona was born in Waltham on January 18, 1923, a daughter of the late Louis and Alice (Fagan) Belliveau and had been a lifelong Waltham resident until she moved in 2016 to Buzzards Bay where she lived with her son, Joe, and daughter-in-law, Marie.

She worked for years as a school cafeteria worker at Central Junior High School in Waltham. Prior to raising her children she worked at the Unitrode Corporation.

Mrs. Alessandro was the wife of the late Santino J. Alessandro, mother of the late Robert E. Alessandro and a sister of the late Alyre Belliveau, Rita Mobilia, Phillip Belliveau, Eugenie Connolly, Gerard Belliveau, Edward Belliveau, Exilda Cobuzzi, and Arthur Belliveau.

She leaves her son, Joseph J. Alessandro and his wife, Marie, of Buzzards Bay, many nieces and nephews, and her two best friends, Jackson and Simba.

Family and friends will honor and remember Leona's life by gathering to visit from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 30th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
