Waltham Mrs. Lillian Y. (Marotte) Murphy of Waltham died Thursday, March 2, 2006 at West Newton Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 90. Born in East Boston, a daughter of the late Alfred and Adelaide (Slade) Marotte, she lived in Waltham for the past sixty-nine years. Until her retirement she worked for many years at the Waltham Supermarket and before that, at Brandeis University and at the Hillcrest in Waltham. Lillian was a 1935 graduate of Newton High School and had been a member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose, Lodge No. 1018, both of Waltham. The wife of the late Robert F. Murphy; she leaves her children, Janet M. McCarter, Robert F. Murphy, Jr. and his wife, Ann, Joyce A. Howes and her husband, Paul, Joan E. MacDonald, Alfred J. Fred Murphy, all of Waltham, and Ralph E. Ted Murphy and his fiancé, Stacy ONeil of Lexington; one sister, Marion Addie Trainor of West Newton; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Judith A. Murphy and sister of the late Ralph Marotte, William Fewer, Frances Burton and Edna Patriquin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Monday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
