Linda A. Gargone, of Belmont, formerly of Waltham, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, November 27, 2023. She was 69.
Linda was born in Boston on February 23, 1954, a daughter of the late Sebastian and Catherine (Boghosian) Gargone, and was a graduate of Waltham High School. She was a lifelong parishioner at Saint Mary’s Church in Waltham.
For years she co-owned and operated Able Phone Answering Service with her sister, Carolyn, which later became Best Message Center.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her cherished partner of forty-seven years, Walter F. ‘Butch’ Duddy, Jr. and her siblings, Edward A. Gargone, Catherine M. Hansberry and Carol A. Gargone and her nephew, Edward A. Gargone, Jr.
She leaves her sisters and brother, Joan M. Mermelstein, Carolyn A. Scarlett (John) and Charles T. Gargone (late Beverly), all of Waltham and her nieces and nephews, David Mermelstein (Joanne), Lynne Hansberry, Joseph Hansberry (Anne), Michael Hansberry, David J. Gargone (Janice), Peter S. Gargone (Isabella), Charles Gargone, Jr., Steven Gargone, Cheryl Gargone, Marnie Kelly (Tim), Kim King (Tim) and John Scarlett (Liz).
Family and friends will honor and remember Linda's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, December 3rd from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial is private.
