Waltham – Mrs. Lois K. (Kolls) Olson died on Friday, January 2, 2105 in EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Weston with her family by her side. She was 82.
Lois was born in Racine, Wisconsin on January 21, 1932, a daughter of the late Clifton and Edna (York) Kolls. In 1954 she met Gerald D. Olson on his return home from serving with the Navy. The pair married on October 1, 1955 and began their family in Wisconsin and eventually moved to Waltham where they would raise their four children.
She was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed sewing. When able Gerald and Lois loved to travel and some of their most memorable trips were spent exploring Europe. She was devoted to her faith and had been a Deacon at The First Congregational Church of Waltham which later became Trinity Church.
Besides her beloved husband, Gerald, she is survived by her devoted children, Judith K. Vanaria, of Waltham, Michael D. Olson and his wife, Michelle, of Duxbury and Rex E. Olson and his wife, Krista, of Maynard; her brother David Kolls and his wife, Nancy, of Racine, Wisconsin; her brother-in-law, Roger Olson and his wife, Deborah, of Hershey, Pennsylvania; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Ann L. Olson.
Funeral services will be private.
