Hopkinton - Faith, family and friendship were the hallmarks of Lorraine Boudreau's life.
She was born on September 28, 1938 and raised in Waltham, a daughter of the late William J. 'Willie-Joe' and Estelle (Savoy) Chaisson, and had been a lifelong resident before moving to Hopkinton five years ago. The seeds of her faith were planted early in life by her parents and nurtured by the Religious of Christian Education, the order of nuns that faithfully staffed L'École de Saint Pierre, the parish school of Saint Joseph's Church. After that Lorraine graduated from Saint Mary's High School, also in Waltham.
Throughout her life yearly summer trips 'back home' to Cheticamp, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia were part of family life and it was there that she met her husband, J. Edmond Boudreau. The couple married at Saint Joseph's Church on March 3, 1962 and were lifelong parishioners.
For years Lorraine worked as a waitress at the Chateau Restaurant in Waltham where she was affectionately known as 'LB'. After that she went to work as the office manager at her brother's business, Three Sons Auto Body in Waltham until her retirement.
At Saint Joseph's she was a longtime member of the Parish Council and a CCD teacher. She and Edmond also belonged to the French-American Victory Club on Elm Street where they made many lifelong friends.
Lorraine was well known as the organizer and party planner extraordinaire for events, dinners and trips for everyone close to her. She and Edmond loved to travel, having taken dozens of cruises over the years. Bermuda was a favorite among many destinations.
And so it was that she died doing what she loved to do. With her inseparable Edmond by her side Lorraine passed as their most recent cruise docked in Tampa, Florida on Friday, April 13, 2018. She was 79.
Among her other interests were swimming at the 'Y' in Waltham and later in Westboro and for her skill at crafting, ceramics and crocheting.
In addition to her husband of fifty-six years, Edmond, she leaves her children, David E. Boudreau and his wife, Ann, of North Andover, Joan E. Larade and her husband, Alfred, of Fort Myers Beach, Florida and Janet B. Ceddia and her husband, Christopher, of Hopkinton; her beloved grandchildren to whom she was 'Memere', Steven Boudreau and his wife, Danielle, Carolyn and John Boudreau, Curtis Larade and his fiancé, Kiah Begley, and Nicholas, Jillian and Julianna Ceddia; her brothers and sister, Paul Chaisson and his wife, Nancy, of Stow, William Chiasson and his wife, Deb, of Cape May, New Jersey, James Chaisson and his wife, Carol, of Plymouth and Joan Bace and her husband, John, of Natick and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Lorraine's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, April 19th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
Memorial donations may be made to Saint Matthew Parish, 105 Southville Road, Southborough, MA 01772 www.stmatthewsb.org .
