Sudbury – Mrs. Lorraine J. (Moran) Croft, of Sudbury, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Wingate at Needham. She was 79.
Lorraine was born in Boston on May 13, 1934, a daughter of Irish immigrants John J. and Catherine J. (O'Malley) Moran, and was raised in Waltham. She was a graduate of Waltham High School and had lived in the city before moving to Natick and later to Sudbury.
She worked for twenty-five years as an operator for Western Union and spent the next thirty years in a job that she loved, working as a nanny for a family in Wellesley and later for more than twenty years with the Kamen family in Sudbury. Lorraine's love for children was evident in everything that she did; including being happiest when she participated in parties and celebrations held in their honor.
She leaves her children, Barbara C. Spillane and her husband, John, of Medfield, John M. Croft, and his wife, Debra, of Seneca, South Carolina and Paul R. Croft of Natick; her grandchildren, Jake, Matt and Ryan Spillane; her sister, Maureen Daniels of Chelmsford and her dear friends Robert Kamen and Trudi Veldman and their children, Daniel and Annelies Kamen, all of Sudbury.
Lorraine was also the mother of the late James B. Croft and a sister of the late Kathleen Leach.
Family and friends will honor and remember Lorraine's life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Monday morning, December 2nd, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
