Mrs. Lorraine T. (Hughes) Kusmirek, of Waltham, died on Sunday, April 13, 2014 in Belmont Manor Nursing Home. She was 82.
Lorraine was born in Malden on July 9, 1931, a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Flynn) Hughes. She married Leo A. Kusmirek on May 27, 1951, and they were Waltham residents for many years.
Lorraine worked in the cafeteria at the Cunniff School in Watertown for many years. Previously she had worked as a waitress at Bickford's Restaurant as well as the former Annie's Restaurant.
Lorraine was a people person and enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles in Watertown.
Her husband, Leo A. Kusmirek died June 19, 1993. She is also predeceased by her siblings, James Hughes, Barbara 'Midge' Curewitz, Joan Lane, and June Babin.
She leaves her children, Karen A. Kusmirek, Patricia D. Nickerson, Leona M. Kusmirek, all of Waltham, Leo M. Kusmirek and his wife, Janice of Leominster, James A. Kusmirek and his wife, Carol of Tewksbury and Lorraine M. Kusmirek of Marlborough; her grandchildren, Nicole, Darren, Jessica and Michael Kusmirek and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Lorraine's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, April 16th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham, where a Liturgical Blessing will be held at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery.
