Waltham - Mrs. Lorraine A. ( Bourgeois) Matthews, of Waltham, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was 94.
Lorraine was born on September 7, 1916 in Cocagne, New Brunswick, a daughter of the late Albanie and Helen (Collette) Bourgeois. She was raised and educated in Canada, later lived in Newton and finally settled in Waltham in 1970. She had worked for many years at the Newton Marriott as a housekeeper until her retirement in 1983. She always had a great sense of humor and loved all kinds of animals.
She leaves her sister, Irene Hebert of South Yarmouth, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the wife of the late James J. Matthews and sister of the late Albert, Margaret, Catherine, Edgar, and Alex Bourgeois, Ann Pratt, Stella Breau and Evelyn Cramsie.
Family and friends will honor and remember Lorraine’s life by gathering to visit in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham on Monday morning at 8:15 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
