Louis J. Kirsch

Waltham – Mr. Louis J. Kirsch, III, of Waltham, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. He was 79.

Lou was born in Waltham on December 24, 1932, a son of the late Louis J., Jr. and Leitha (Woodworth) Kirsch, and had been a lifelong resident. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1951 and four years later from the University of Massachusetts. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the United States Army.

In 1957 Lou founded the Louis J. Kirsch, III Insurance Agency in Waltham, first on Moody Street before moving to its present location on Main Street. Lou and his wife, Jane, were long active in local affairs. A lifelong Mason, Lou was a member of the Waltham Triad Lodge, A.F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Boston, 32nd Degree.

He had also belonged to the Waltham Jaycee's and the Waltham Rotary Club and had served on the board of directors of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Waltham Hospital, the Waltham Boys & Girls Club and the Leland Home where he was a longtime board president.

Lou's wife, Jane (Zeiter) Kirsch, died March 21, 2004.

He leaves his son, John L. Kirsch and his wife, Kelly, of Marlborough, his son-in-law, Stephen Robbins of Peabody; his grandchildren, Ethan, Ryan and David Kirsch and Stephen and Heather Robbins; his sister, Lorraine J. Brown of Wayland and several nieces and nephews.

Lou was also the father of the late Carol J. Robbins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Lou's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, April 12th, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Friday morning in Immanuel United Methodist Church, 545 Moody Street, Waltham when his funeral service will be held. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be at a later day in North Ferrisburg Cemetery, North Ferrisburg, Vermont.
