Leominster – Mr. Louis W. Marinelli of Leominster, formerly of Waltham, died Tuesday, January 13, 2004 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital due to heart complications. He was 74.
He was born in Waltham on March 29, 1929, the first of four children born to the late Anthony and Theresa (Ferrara) Marinelli. He graduated from Waltham High School and after that served as a cook in the U.S. Army for two years.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Marinelli was a trustee of Garden City Gravel Company in Weston, a family owned business since the 1920’s and he was operations advisor to Bay State Sand and Gravel in Weston where he was known to customers as ‘Uncle Lou’. He had a passionate business sense and took pleasure in assisting homeowners in their business decisions. He enjoyed the theater and liked to take in a play with his longtime friend, Nancy. He was a Boston sports fan who took much satisfaction when the Sox beat the Yankees. He was also a Nascar racing fan.
Louis lived a full and happy life, surrounded by friends and family. Always smiling, his good nature and sarcasm kept people around him smiling and laughing along with him. He will be remembered as a selfless individual, sacrificing what he could to bring about better fortunes for his family. His sense of humor and love for his family and friends will always be treasured.
He leaves his sisters, Grace M. Falone and her husband Edward, and Ann T. Marinelli all of Waltham and Louise M. Proulx and her husband Maurice of Burlington; his dear friend Nancy Jeffrey of Westminster and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours are Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
