Louis F. Vezeau

September 19, 1932 — May 5, 2017

Waltham – Mr. Louis F. Vezeau, of Waltham, died Friday, May 5, 2017 at Wingate of Weston. He was 84.

Louis was born in Waltham on September 19, 1932, a son of the late Louis and Catherine (Duffy) Vezeau, and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1949 graduate of Saint Charles High School and later served for a time in the Massachusetts National Guard.

On September 3, 1951 Louis married Marjorie A. Vienneau in Saint Joseph's Church in Waltham and the couple made Waltham their lifelong home.

Louis worked worked in the purchasing and procurement departments of the Raytheon Company and LFE Corporation in Waltham and Clinton before taking a job with the Register of Motor Vehicles at their Watertown office.

He and Marjorie were long active at Saint Joseph's where they helped out on almost every parish committee beginning with the drive to build the upper church in the 1950's. Lou was a longtime Scout Master for Troop 255, taught CCD for nine years and could be found most Sundays as an usher at Mass. He and Marjorie worked bingo, helped to service coffee and donuts after 8:30 Masses and worked on the 1000-A-Month committee.

Lou also belonged to the French-American Victory Club and was a proud supporter and helper with Waltham's Meals-On-Wheels program, the Reagle Players and the Waltham Symphony. He was also a pretty good cribbage player.

When he wasn't working or volunteering somewhere with Marjorie the pair enjoyed traveling around New England, the country and Europe. They took many cruises to the Caribbean and visited Ireland and almost every country on the Continent. Trips to Alaska, Hawaii and Canada were among the favorites but for Lou nothing beat the trips he took for more than twenty years with his three boys to the NCAA finals. It was an annual pilgrimage they looked forward to and they made sure that the joy was in the journey as well as in the destination . . . they always drove to the games regardless of how near or far.

In addition to his wife of sixty-five years, Marjorie, he leaves his children, Stephen P. Vezeau and his wife, Karen, and Michael E. Vezeau and his wife, Diane, all of Waltham; his grandson, Thomas W. Vezeau and his wife, Kristen; his sisters and brothers, Dorothy Lorraine Shutt and Elizabeth Conrad, both of Waltham, James Vezeau of Manchester, New Hampshire and John Vezeau of Hudson and many nieces and nephews.

Louis was also the father of the late Kenneth J. Vezeau and a brother of the late Robert Vezeau, Mary Ferguson and CPL Thomas J. Vezeau, USMC who was killed in action in Vietnam on February 25, 1970.

Family and friends will honor and remember Louis's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, May 9th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning when his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
