Waltham – Mrs. Louise F. (Leonard) Tower, of Waltham, died on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Waltham Crossings. She was 93.
Louise was born in Waltham on August 14, 1923, the daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Kindregan) Leonard. Before her retirement she worked in the Adminstrative Offices in the Waltham School Department for over 20 years.
Widowed at the age of 48 she leaned on her Catholic faith and was a life-long parishioner at St. Mary's Church on School Street. She was a wonderful mother and doted on her husband and children. She was independent, warm, social, strong and always kept up with the times by reading the Globe daily and tuning into her Sunday morning political shows. She enjoyed staying active with all of her neighborhood pals and at the Waltham Senior Center. She loved to travel with her family and her fellow Waltham Seniors and one of her favorite spots was W. Dennis Beach on Cape Cod.
She was the beloved wife of the late Donald O. Tower and is survived by her children, Donald O. Tower, Jr. of Scituate, Scott A. Tower and his wife, Ginger, of Arlington, and Michelle F. Burke and her husband, Philip, of Sudbury; her grandchildren, Don, Luke, Jon, Adam, Kim, Justin and Tyler; her great-grandchildren, Mishka, Callie, Jack, Celia, Elizabeth, Bella, Trystan and Brielle and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Louise was the sister of the late John Leonard, Thomas Leonard, Agnes Bisson, Irene Jones, Mary Godleski, and Margaret Hann.
Family and friends will honor and remember Louise's life by gathering for calling hours on Monday, October 3rd, from 5-8 pm in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Tuesday at 10 am before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
