Waltham – Mrs. Louise F. (Monahan) Whelan of Waltham died Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Epoch Senior Health Care Center in Weston. She was 88. Mrs. Whelan was born, raised, and educated in Cambridge. She had lived in Waltham for 44 years, and was a parishioner of Our Lady’s Church in Waltham. Mrs. Whelan was the wife of the late Vincent P. Whelan to whom she had been married for forty-seven years. She was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Francis) Monahan and the sister of the late John and Paul Monahan. Mrs. Whelan is survived by her children, Paula Whelan of Wilmington, Vincent P. Whelan, Jr. of Cambridge, Bill Whelan of Georgia, and Jeff Whelan of Florida; her brother, William Monahan of Agawam; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Visiting hours will be held prior to the Funeral Mass Saturday morning from 8-9:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to HealthCare Dimensions Hospice, 764 Main Street, Waltham, MA 02451.
