Lucy A. (DeStefano) Chaisson

September 12, 1934 — March 19, 2019

The doors on Lucy Chaisson's home on Beal Road in Waltham for the last eleven years and her home in her native Watertown where she lived many years were always open. In addition to the traditional Italian Sunday's where family and friends gathered in her kitchen and dining room for yet another one of her great meals everyone was always welcome regardless of the day of the week. Her cooking was her love made visible...and those who joined her for food had the added benefit of her phenomenal cooking. Italian through and through she was the epitome of the consummate mother and cook...the best a child could wish for and the world's best 'Ya Ya, Gramma and Ma'. She had the added gift of knowing each of her family's favorite meal and making certain it was on the table when they'd visit. In the end for Lucy all that mattered was family.

Lucy did her humanly best to be present for all of those in her immediate and extended family. Whether on the sidelines of a grandchild's game, recitals, graduations, sacraments...Lucy was certain to be there. And in turn they were present when she died on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge after an illness. She was 84.

Lucy A. DeStefano was born September 12, 1934 a daughter of Italian immigrants Joseph and Vincenza (Marini) DeStefano. Raised and educated in Waltham she was a resident of Watertown most of her life before moving to Waltham in 2008.
