Waltham – Mrs. Lucy May (LeFort) Doucet, of Waltham, died Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 97.
Lucy May was born on December 28, 1913 in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, a daughter of the late John S. and Lucy (Romard) LeFort. She was raised and educated in Canada before moving to Waltham in 1968. Until her retirement she worked as an inspector for Ark-Les Switch Corporation in Watertown. She was also a long-time parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church in Waltham and volunteered at the Francis Cabot Lowell Mill apartments in Waltham.
The wife of the late Gerard H. Doucet, she leaves her children, Roland G. Doucet of Gatineau, Quebec and Geraldine L. Casey of Waltham; her grandchildren Joanna L’Heureux, Sarah, Luke and Suzanne Doucet; her great-grandchildren Chloe Doucet-Winkelman and Eugene and Casey L’Heureux; her sisters, Ethel Deveaux, Mary Louise Cormier and Bernadette Chiasson all of Cheticamp, Nova Scotia and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother-in-law of the late Rodney Casey and a sister of the late Mary Helen Aucoin, Isabelle Chiasson, Annie May McKinnon, Sadie Aucoin, Cecile LeBlanc, Edmond, Stanley, Amedee, Arthur and Joseph LeFort.
Family and friends will honor and remember Lucy’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to The Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
