Waltham Mr. Ludy J. Bonfiglio of Waltham died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 77. Born in Boston, a son of the late Joseph and Amalia (Bergamasco) Bonfiglio, he lived in Belmont before moving to Waltham many years ago. During World War II he served in the Pacific with the U.S. Army and after that attended Northeastern University in Boston earning degrees in chemistry, engineering and management. He worked for more than thirty years for American Mutual Liability Insurance Company in Wakefield, retiring as a vice-president in 1988. He was ordained a Permanent Deacon of the Archdiocese of Boston in 1988 and served at Saint Jude Parish in Waltham until 1995. He was very active in parish affairs and served as a eucharistic minister at Waltham Hospital for 19 years and after the hospitals closing served in the same capacity at Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham. He was a member of the Insurance and Bank Purchasing Managers Association and had been a member and past president of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the National Association of Fleet Administrators, Warrendale Little League and the Warrendale School PTA. He leaves his wife, Mary E. Betty (Garrigan) Bonfiglio, his children, Joseph W. Bonfiglio of Pepperell, Marie L. Giordano of Marlboro and Ellen M. Bonfiglio of New York, 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also the husband of the late Eleanor (Peshin) Bonfiglio. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Thursday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Visiting hours are Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
