Waltham – Mrs. M. Elizabeth (Walsh) Butler, of Waltham, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Epoch of Weston. She was 97.
Elizabeth was born in Waltham on December 10, 1913, a daughter of the late John J. and Mildred S. (Bellis) Walsh, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School, Class of 1931. She retired in 1976 after thirty-five years of employment with the Waltham School Department. For most of that time Elizabeth worked at the John F. Kennedy Junior High School.
She was a member of the former Waltham Grange P of H, the Waltham Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Waltham Women’s Club and Saint Mary’s Church choir.
The wife of the late Frederick W. Butler, she leaves her children, Frederick W. ‘Ted’ Butler, Jr. and his wife, Rosemary, of Peabody and J. David Butler of Waltham; her grandchildren, Lynne M. Butler and Stephen F. Butler and his wife, Kelli; her great-grandchildren, Stephen, Justin and Dylan Butler; her sister, Phyllis Zukatynski of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was also a sister of the late Louise Davis and Pauline Royle.
Family and friends will honor and remember Elizabeth’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, April 5th, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
