M. Rita Smith

Mrs. M. Rita (Pellerin) Smith, of Clinton, formerly of Waltham, died Monday, January 7, 2008 in The Highlands Nursing Home in Fitchburg. She was 88. Born in New Brunswick, Canada, Mrs. Smith had lived in Waltham for over fifty years. She had worked at Unitrode for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Smith enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She was the wife of the late Chester A. Smith and the daughter of the late Joseph and Euphime (Gauvin) Pellerin. Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Dennis J. Smith and his wife, Roberta, of Clinton, Ann Marie Cundiff of Fitchburg, and David A. Smith and his wife, Julie, of Woburn; her grandchildren, Derrick, Nicole, Naomi, April, and Laura; her sister, Ruth Pellerin of Lynn; and her niece, Barbara Tardiff of Lynn. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
