Madeline P. (Utley) Admirand, of Waltham, died Monday, October 9, 2023 at Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 86.
Madeline was born in Brighton on March 14, 1937, one of thirteen children to the late Francis and Dorothy (McLaughlin) Utley. Raised and educated in Brighton she was a graduate of Saint Columbkille High School. Following her education, Madeline dedicated many years of her life as a dietary aide at various hospitals in the area before retiring.
Madeline was devout in her faith and blessed with a sweet and easy-going nature. She loved the beach, and singing with her sisters. Some of the fondest memories her children hold close are the times spent together at Nantasket Beach. Building sand castles and playing in the waves filled their days while Madeline, alongside her siblings, delighted everyone by singing at the beachfront restaurant. She was also an avid reader and loved to relax by cozying up to a great mystery novel, or unwinding by watching her favorite ”soaps” on television. But above all else, Madeline found immense pride and joy in being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her five children, eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Madeline is predeceased by her son James M. Admirand; her siblings, William F. “Billy” Utley, Francis 'Frank' Utley, Dorothy Stonebreaker, Marjorie Utley, Richard Utley, Michael Utley, Robert Utley and Rosemary Sheridan.
Madeline leaves her children, Robert F. Admirand of Bristol New Hampshire, Michael L. Admirand (Donna) of Middleborough, John J. Admirand (Karen) of Marshfield, and Dorothy A. Admirand of Easton; her grandchildren, Meghan, Erin, Robert, Ryan, Kerri, Ashley, Connor, Joseph, Gavin, Dylan, and Brendan; her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Lenny, Hannah, Kylie, Jack, Mason, Dayton, Cheyenne, Addie, Cora, Jameson, Adeline, Paul, and Walter; her siblings, Joseph Utley of West Newton, Ann Moruzzi of Arlington, James Utley of Avon and Timothy Utley of Hudson; her daughter-in-law Nancy Admirand of Attleboro, along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Madeline’s life by gathering on Monday, October 23rd in Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School St, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
