Waltham - Mrs. Madeline M. (Sutton) Dugas, of West Newton, formerly of Waltham, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 in The Stone Institute in Newton Upper Falls. She was 90.
She was born on April 9, 1921 in Waltham, a daughter of the late Albert A. and Mary (Pierce) Sutton. She was a graduate of the former Saint Mary's High School and the former Burdett Business School in Boston. She lived most of her life in Waltham before moving to West Newton in 2004.
Madeline worked as a secretary at the former Grover Cronin's Department Store in Waltham. She later worked as an executive secretary at Newton-Waltham Bank & Trust which later became BayBank for over 20 years, retiring in 1984.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed time by the ocean on Cape Cod. She loved her family and friends.
She was predeceased be her former husband, Vincent J. Dugas who died May 6, 1998 and her brother, John Sutton.
Madeline leaves her children, Cherie M. O'Brien and her husband, Robert J., of Belmont, Jacqueline A. Rizzo and her husband, Richard D., of Andover and Stephen A. Dugas of West Newton; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Madeline's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
