Waltham - Mrs. Madeline J. (Craven) Farrell of Waltham died Friday, September 9, 2005, in her daughter's home in Norton. She was 87. Born in Boston, Mrs. Farrell had lived in Waltham since 1963. She was an avid gardener and artist. Mrs. Farrell was the wife of the late Patrick J. Farrell, the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Katherine M. (Coleman) Craven and the sister of the late John J. Craven. She is survived by her children, Mary P. Poitras and her husband Gerard of Scituate, Kathleen F. Alexander and her husband Mark of Hopedale, Sheila F. Swavely and her husband Don of Norton, Michele M. Gilmore and her husband Stephen of Mansfield, Patrick J. Farrell and his wife Carol of Salem, and Michael J. Farrell of Waltham, eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be to to Catholic Charities, 35 Bird Street, Dorchester, MA 02125.
