Margaret W. Bergesen

Waltham - Mrs. Margaret W. 'Peggy' (Rietchel) Bergesen, of Waltham, died Monday, July 20, 2009 in the Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham. A daughter of the late Max and Annie (Maguire) Rietchel, Peggy was born on December 9, 1913 in Waltham. She was a secretary at Brandeis University for several years until her retirement. Peggy enjoyed crafts, knitting and crocheting. She was the wife of the late Roy A. Bergesen, the mother of the late David R. Bergesen, and the sister of the late Mary F. Cunningham. Peggy is survived by her sons, Roy A. Bergesen, Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Franklin and Paul E. Bergesen and his wife, Lori, of Beverly; her daughter-in-law, Ava Bergesen of Hopkinton; her grandchildren, Christine Larue, David Bergesen, Julie McCabe, Joanna LaPlaca, and Kevin Bergesen; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor and remember Peggy's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
